We are taking a bus out to Mt Hood, then snowcats up to Silcox Hut for our holiday retreat tomorrow.

Flasks required.  Love my job.

I’d like to visit this ‘hut’ at some point…

Halloween makes me think of these old trees that survive at the edge of the tree line near the southern border of the Sierras.  

Thinking of and missing the trail today.  The smell in the air today reminds me of Oregon’s lava fields…

Most Complete Digital Topographic Map of Earth Released

NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratories and Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry collaborated to produce the most complete digital topographical map of the world, released this week.

The ASTER instrument aboard the Terra satellite was able to capture stereoscopic views of the Earth’s surface, giving the orbital images depth and elevation.
